20 May – After unveiling his directorial debut via the virtual reality (VR) short, "Le Musk", Indian composer AR Rahman recently announced that he is already planning his next project.

Speaking to Variety at the Cannes Film Festival, Rahman stated that his next project will be another VR movie titled "Confessions".

"Now that ["Le Musk"] is finished and we're happy about it, we just want to do something which is much simpler, but deeper in emotion," he said.

But unlike "Le Musk", which took him six years to complete, Rahman said that his sophomore project will not take such a long time since the technology has evolved since he started the former in 2016.

"I see technology as a tool to bring out a very different kind of emotion to transport people," he added.

On the other hand, his current film, inspired by an idea from wife Saira, follows heiress and musician Juliet Merdinian (played by Nora Arnezeder) who seeks out the men who turned her into an orphan 20 years ago through their scent. Shot in Rome, "Le Musk" is 36 minutes long and has been billed as a cinematic sensory experience incorporating virtual reality, with motion, music and scent integrated into the narrative.

The film premiered at the 75th Cannes Film Festival this week, and can be experienced at the immersive VR chairs by Los Angeles-based company Positron, which has motion, scent, immersive sound, and haptics integrated.
