21 Sep – The creators of "Cobra Kai" recently revealed that they have nothing to do with Sony's upcoming fifth instalment of the "Karate Kid" franchise.
The news was shared on Twitter by co-creator Jon Hurwitz, after a fan asked if the news is real, saying, "The guys and I would love to make Karate Kid and Cobra Kai movies and hope to someday. But this one isn't from us or focused on the Cobra Kai cast."
"Cobra Kai", set 34 years later after the original 1984 "Karate Kid" movie - where teenager Daniel had defeated rival Johnny - reexamines the narrative from Johnny's point of view, his decision to reopen the Cobra Kai karate dojo, and the rekindling of his old rivalry with Daniel.
It is now in its third season, and co-stars original "Karate Kid" actors Ralph Macchio and William Zabka.
