27 Jan – Disney recently assured that it is taking a different approach to its upcoming live-action adaptation of "Snow White", following Peter Dinklage's recent opinion about the whole project.
Speaking about the issue of the seven dwarves that has always been a part of the story, a spokesperson from the House of Mouse stated, "To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community."
It was earlier this week that Dinklage, most known for his performance as Tyrion Lannister in "Game of Thrones", expressed his disappointment at hearing the news about the movie project.
"I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White...You're still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you're doing there. It makes no sense to me. You're progressive in one way and you're still making that [expletive] backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together. What the [expletive] are you doing man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox?" he said.
It is noted that Disney announced last year that it will have Rachel Zegler playing the title role, while Gal Gadot will be playing the evil queen in the upcoming remake of its 1938 animated feature.
