7 Sep – Brendan Fraser's fans weren't the only ones who were happy that the actor's performance was widely received at the Venice Film Festival, as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson also seems to be rooting for the former heartthrob. On 5 September, the "Black Adam" star retweeted a video of Fraser being teary-eyed after getting a standing ovation at the world premiere of his new movie "The Whale".
There is good reason for The Rock to feel grateful to Fraser. The 2001 "The Mummy Returns" was the first movie ever for the former then-WWF champion, who plays the role of Mathayus of Akkad/The Scorpion King in the movie. It also inspired the 2002 prequel, "The Scorpion King" - the first lead role for Johnson. Meanwhile, in "The Whale", Fraser plays the role of a 600-pound man who tries to reconnect with his daughter years after abandoning his family.
