22 Dec – Dwayne Johnson recently announced that "Black Adam" will not be in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new vision for the DC Extended Universe. The actor, who also produced the previous DC superhero movie through his Seven Bucks film banner, shared the news on Twitter, saying that he has spoken to Gunn about the future of "Black Adam". "James Gunn and I connected and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilised in future DC multiverse chapters," he said.
Johnson also dismissed the notion that he and Gunn butt heads, stating that they have known each other for years and have always been supportive of one another. "It's no different now, and I will always root for DC (and Marvel) to win and WIN BIG... After 15 years of relentless hard work to finally make Black Adam, I'm very proud of the film we delivered for fans worldwide. I will always look back on the fans reaction to Black Adam with tremendous gratitude, humility and love. We did great." Gunn also retweeted the post on his own account, writing, "Love [Dwayne Johnson] & I'm always excited to see what he & Seven Bucks do next. Can't wait to collaborate soon."
