24 Jan – Lin-Manuel Miranda's "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from the Disney animated feature "Encanto" has now surpassed Frozen's "Let it Go" at the Billboard Hot 100 singles, and became a No.1 hit on Spotify.
Speaking about the success of the song, the award-winning Broadway producer stated that his son is the only person who literally doesn't want to talk about Bruno. "My son came home from school today and he was like, 'Daddy, everyone's singing it'. He's both proud and like, 'All right, already.' Because remember, he heard that song last May. He's way over it," he said, lightheartedly. Miranda admitted that the success of "We Don't Talk About Bruno" was a big surprise to him. "I feel like this is my 'Send in the Clowns,' which was the late Stephen Sondheim's biggest hit and probably the most random of an incredible career and life-making music. But I'll take it!" he said. It is noted that the song, which is an ensemble number performed by the voice cast members Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero and Stephanie Beatriz, blends a variety of Latin-style and consisting of gossips about the main character's mysterious uncle Bruno, whose gift of prophecy caused him to be ostracised by the family and the village where they live. The song has also been released in various languages, including Bahasa Melayu, which is performed by singers including Nikki Palikat, Amylea Azizan, and Zahid.
