"Morbius" pushes release to April 2022

5 Jan – It looks like Sony's "Morbius" has delayed its release yet again.

The movie, which was recently announced that it will be released on 28 January 2022, is now pushed back to 1 April 2022 and it is no April Fool's joke.

The decision reportedly came as the world witness the rise of the omicron variant of COVID-19, while "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is also dominating the box office and seemingly crushing all the other contenders.

It was supposed to be released on 28 January 2022

The April release means that the movie is well-positioned to have a strong opening, since there are no major movies releasing on the same date for now. Its biggest competition currently would be "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" - both releasing in the same month but a couple of weeks later.

It is noted that the Jared Leto-starrer has already re-scheduled its release six times in the past, mostly due to the pandemic. Its first planned release date was July 2020.

It looks like Dr Morbius isn't really keen on competing with Peter Parker
