21 Mar – Muslim teens around the world rejoiced as the new Disney+ Marvel superhero, Ms Marvel has been introduced as the first ever Muslim superhero.

In the first trailer of the upcoming Disney+ series of the same name, the show introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim teen growing up in New Jersey who tries to balance her life as a high school student/minority Muslim and the super power that she has.


Played by Iman Vellani, the said character has since become a trending topic on social media, with social media users expressing their happiness about the character and how it made them feel represented.

One netizen wrote, "A lot of Kamala Khan reminds me of me and I only wish she was around when I was a teen. I feel seen."

On the other hand, Marvel's own Hulk, Mark Ruffalo also congratulated the studio for the new series, writing, "Marvel breaks new ground. Love you for reflecting the world we live in. Welcome to the family, Kamala!"

Among other actors involved in the series including Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shan, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, and Azhar Usman.

The upcoming series will be making its premiere on the Disney+ streaming platform in June. Meanwhile, Vellani is also reprising her said role in the upcoming "Captain Marvel" sequel, "The Marvels", which will be released in 2023.
