24 May – Dhaarshan Ganesan, the grandson of movie legend Sivaji Ganesan, is set to make his movie debut.

The news was confirmed by Dhaarshan's father and actor-producer Ramkumar, who stated, "Everyone already knows that my elder son Dusshyanth is a producer and actor. Now, my younger son, Dhaarshan Ganesan, is also going to act."

"He studied acting course in Pune and has done street dramas in Tamil, Hindi and English and now, he is well-trained. A lot of companies have invited him to work with them. They will announce the films in a proper way. Like his grandfather, he has also done street dramas, so, a hero is rising from Annai Illam again."

It is noted that both Sivaji's son, Ramkumar and Prabhu became actors, though it was the latter who was the more popular one. Ramkumar, on the other hand, focused more on his work as a producer, helming their production house, Sivaji Productions.

Dhaarshan will be the fourth member of the family who will be entering Kollywood.
