6 Jan – After much speculations about the release of Ajith's "Thunivu", it was revealed that the film will now be out in cinemas on 11 January.

The news was shared by producer Boney Kapoor via social media, stating that the movie will be "screened in theatres across the world on 11 January 2023".



Despite the new date, it looks like the movie will still compete with Vijay's "Varisu", which will be in cinemas on the same day as well. However, fans in Singapore will have to wait a day later to watch the upcoming Vijay film, as "Varisu" will only be released in the country on 12 January.

The upcoming Vijay movie tells the story of Vijay Rajendran, whose happy life goes awry when his wealthy businessman father died.

Meanwhile, "Thunivu" is an action heist movie revolving a team of robbers who hijack a bank and force the Tamil Nadu government to fulfill their demands.
