"Barbie" continues domination at the box office

15 Aug - "Barbie" remains the big office giant doll to be defeated, as it has now made it to number 25 in the highest grossing movies of all time list, surpassing the likes of "Captain America: Civil War", "Captain Marvel", and even "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King".

The movie, which has been breaking one record after another since its release, has now gone beyond the USD 500 million mark domestically, as well as USD 657 million internationally, bringing altogether a global total of USD 1.16 billion.


It is now the second biggest Warner Bros. movie of all time behind "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2".

Meanwhile, director Greta Gerwig is now helming the record of highest-grossing female director of all time domestically, surpassing that of Jennifer Lee, who directed "Frozen II" alongside Chris Buck.

On the other hand, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" is now in the third spot of the box office list with a global total of USD 94.7 million in its second week, behind "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer", the latter which has now made a total of USD 649 million.
