13 Jan – Chloe Flower, the pianist whom Michelle Yeoh jokingly asked to shut up at the Golden Globes, recently assured that all is fine between her and the actress.
The pianist, who spoke to THR the day after the event, stated that she is doing just great and had met Michelle Yeoh afterwards.
"She embraced me. She reached out and grabbed my hand, and I was like, 'I would never play during your speech.' We talked for a minute, so it was really nice," she said.
Speaking about the Malaysian-born actress, Flower said that she is a huge fan of the actress, being Asian herself.
"I didn't know [Michelle] was coming and when I saw that she was there, I was at the piano in real time. I was like, 'Oh my God, she's here.' When that happened, I was so rattled because I was like, 'Oh my God, I love her. I don't want her to think that I'm performing during her speech.' I would never do that."
Flower stated that it was a misunderstanding since she was not playing the piano, and that she was there to "represent iconic movie and TV film scores."
"That's someone else doing that. I have no control. That's not anything that they discussed with me or was discussed with me at all because that's beyond my role," she added.
Flower added that it was not just Yeoh, but that she had to explain to every winner that walked past her to explain that it was not her who played the piano music that came out while they were giving their speeches.
However, she stated that the producers did apologise to her during the telecast, and that host Jerrod Carmichael also cleared the air regarding the music.
