Friends mourn death of Matthew Perry

The actor played Chandler Bing for ten seasons of "Friends"

30 Oct – Friends and acquaintances alike recently took to social media to mourn the loss of actor Matthew Perry, most known to the global audience as Chandler Bing of "Friends".

Actors like Paget Brewster, Mira Sorvino and Selma Blair posted messages on social media to express their sadness over the loss, with Blair, who'd been friends with Perry for a long time, writing, "All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially. Every day. I loved him unconditionally. And he me. And I'm broken. Broken hearted. Sweet dreams Matty. Sweet dreams."

Paget Brewster, who played Chandler's girlfriend Kathy in season four of "Friends", tweeted, "He was lovely to me on 'Friends' and every time I saw him in the decades after. Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won't rest in peace though. He's already too busy making everyone laugh up there."

Morgan Fairchild, who played Chandler's mother, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "I'm heartbroken about the untimely death of my 'son', Matthew Perry. The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock. I'm sending love & condolences to his friends & family .."

Maggie Wheeler, who portrayed Chandler's 'Oh My God" ex-girlfriend, Janice, also remembers Perry. "What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared," she wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, comedian Tom Green posted, "Shocked and saddened to just hear about the passing of Matthew Perry in a tragic drowning. He is one of the many talented and incredible success stories from my hometown of Ottawa Canada. Rest in peace Matthew."

The official X account of NBC's "Friends", also posted a message that read, "We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry's passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans."

Perry was revealed to have passed away on 28 October, with reports saying that he was found drowned in a jacuzzi at home in Los Angeles. No drugs were found at the scene.

He was 55.
