18 Dec – As the sequel to "Aquaman" is nearing its release date, its lead star Jason Momoa admitted that he is doubtful of the superhero's future.

The actor, who spoke to Entertainment Tonight recently to promote "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom", admitted that he doesn't want the Aquaman franchise to end, but that it isn't really his choice.

"The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there's a possibility," he said. "But right now, I'm like, 'It's not looking too good.'"

Momoa continued, "I love this character and [I would want to] play it for a long time. I kind of see where I would want it to go. And even in the next 10 years or so, like there's a lot of cool things they can do. And I do enjoy the role and the world. So, I mean, it just comes down to if people love it."

It is noted that Aquaman was part of the previous DC Extended Universe, with Momoa playing the character for the first time in 2017's "Justice League". That is until James Gunn and Peter Safran arrived to head the newly established DC Studios.

"If there's a place in their world for me, I would love to be a part of it. This is my home. Warner and DC is definitely my home. So, that's all I'll say," said the actor.

For the time being, Aquaman has not been announced as part of the new DC slate.
