21 Aug - It looks like netizens are not the only ones who are fed-up with the recent alterations of popular fairy tales by Disney, as even those previously involved with the studio are expressing frustration over the trend.

David Hand, a former Disney designer and son of one of the directors of the 1937 "Snow White" animated feature, stated that Walt Disney himself, as well his father, also named David Hand, would disagree with it.

Saying that what Disney has been doing is a disgrace, he continued, "Their thoughts are just so radical now. They change the stories, they change the thought process of the characters, ... they're making up new woke things and I'm just not into any of that. I find it quite frankly a bit insulting [what] they may have done with some of these classic films."

"There's no respect for what Disney did and what my dad did. ... I think Walt and he would be turning in their graves," he added.

It is noted that "Snow White" has been receiving backlash by many despite having yet to be released in cinemas. Some questioned its lead actress Rachel Zegler for her past interviews where she criticised the 1937 animated feature, while others questioned Disney for trying to change the story to fit the "Hollywood feminism" narrative.

In addition, the "Snow White" team was also criticised for casting average-sized diverse set of people as the "seven dwarves" with only one actor with actual dwarfism, further excluding actors with dwarfism from getting roles that were made for them, as well as for the Snow White costume that many claimed to look like a cheap Halloween costume.

Disney has not responded to many of the controversies.
