"12th Fail" will be shown on 20,000 screens across China

18 Apr – It may be called "12th Fail", but the movie was revealed to have succeeded in getting a release in China.

The news was confirmed by director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who said, "It has been in the works for a few months, but finally the news is out, and everyone knows that the film is releasing in China."

"There is a huge demand for Hindi cinema or Indian cinema in China. There are more than 20,000 screens [given to 12th Fail]. China really caters to the entertainment sector and hence the numbers [of screens]," he added.

It is noted that Chopra's films are no stranger to the Chinese market, as "3 Idiots", of which he produced, opened the doors for Indian films to one of the biggest film markets to-date.

His other produced film, "PK" also became a huge success in the country, making Aamir Khan, who starred in both movies, the biggest Indian actor in China. This was proven after Aamir's subsequent starrer, "Dangal" became the highest grossing Indian movie in China of all time.

Starring Vikrant Massey in the lead, "12th Fail" is based on the 2019 eponymous non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak about Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer.
