19 Aug - French actor and icon Alain Delon has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed by his children in a statement that read, "Alain Fabien, Anouchka, Anthony, as well as (his dog) Loubo, are deeply saddened to announce the passing of their father. He passed away peacefully in his home in Douchy, surrounded by his three children and his family."

It is noted son Anthony revealed earlier this year that Delon had been diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma. His kids had also been in a dispute of their own regarding his care earlier.

Known for his handsome looks that suited both roles as a leading man or an antagonist, Delon achieved critical acclaim for his roles in movies like "Purple Noon" (1960), "Rocco and His Brothers" (1960), "The Girl on a Motorcycle" (1968), "La Piscine" (1969), and many more.

He also won multiple accolades throughout his life including the Cesar Award for Best Actor for his performance in "Notre Histoire" (1984). In 2019, the actor was awarded with the Honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

He was 88.
