6 Nov - After fans expressed surprise over Ariana Grande being credited as Ariana Grande-Butera in the end credits of her musical, "Wicked", Ariana Grande recently explained the reason why she decided to reuse her actual last name.

And the reason is very nostalgic to the singer-actress herself.

It is noted that Grande-Butera is Ariana's birth name, with Butera being the family name of her father, Edward Butera. However, the singer decided to drop the Butera from her name when she became an artiste.

"I just feel like this experience was such a homecoming for me. I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways, through what I learned from Glinda, from Elphaba," she said, when asked about it in a recent podcast.

"That was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old. And it felt like a really lovely way of honouring that. It felt really full circle, and it just felt like something I wanted to do."

The actress is known to have been estranged from her father following her parents' divorce. However, the father and daughter had since reconciled, with her dad joining Ariana and her mother Joan Grande on the red carpet at the 2020 Grammys.
