29 Feb – Auli'i Cravalho recently confirmed reports that she will be returning to the world of Moana as the voice of the Disney Polynesian princess.

The actress shared the good news on 28 February via a video of her jumping in front of the Roy E. Disney Animation Building, writing, "The feeling when you're officially returning to Motunui."


"We're sailing WAY beyond the reef this November," she posted.

Not to be mistaken with the live-action project Dwayne Johnson previously announced, "Moana 2" is an animated sequel to the original feature that was released in 2016. CEO Bob Iger previously revealed that the movie, directed by Dave Derrick Jr. will be opening on 27 November.

It is noted that Cravalho, who was given the opportunity to voice Moana when she was only 14, previously told fans that she has no plans to reprise her role in the live-action version, saying that it was vital to cast the right actors to represent the characters. Instead, she will executive produce the project.

Cravalho was last seen playing the role of Janis in the "Mean Girls" musical film.
