29 Nov - Barry Keoghan is portraying Ringo Starr in an upcoming Sam Mendes-helmed Beatles movie?

That piece of news was actually revealed by the legendary Beatles drummer himself, who recently expressed his happiness that the Irish actor has been cast to play him.

"I believe he's somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many," said the drummer when asked by Entertainment Weekly.

When asked if he has any advice for the actor, Starr said, "I'm not asking you to play like me, but you have to have the movement to do this stuff. A lot of people come to the gigs we're doing and say, 'My son is taking drum lessons,' and I say, 'Not too many I hope.' You've got to let them get their own feel."

It was earlier reported that Mendes is planning to direct four intertwined biopics about each member of the band, with all of the movies to be released separately by Sony Pictures.

On the other hand, Sony is mum about the casting of the movie. Aside from Keoghan, there were rumours that Paul Mescal and Joseph Quinn were among those who have been considered for the project.

Meanwhile, Keoghan will be seen next in Netflix's "Peaky Blinders" film.
