27 Aug - The sequel to "The Batman" will finally begin filming next year, according to co-writer Mattson Tomlin.

The scribe shared as much in an interview with Screen Rant, saying that they are gearing up for the shoot that will begin in 2025.

"I will say that the bar just couldn't be higher. It's the sequel to the first one. But also, Matt [Reeves] is like no other. In the five years now that I've been working with him as closely as I have, I've tried to absorb as much as humanly possible from him, and I'm so grateful for the time that I get to spend with him, because he is a true artist who is operating in a world where sometimes art doesn't get to flourish, and he's trying to make something that really matters," he said.

It is noted that the sequel was supposed to start filming in November 2023 for October 2025 release. However, the scriptwriting had to be delayed due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, which only ended in September 2023.

The Robert Pattinson-starrer "The Batman", it is understood, is not part of the DC Universe created by James Gunn and Peter Safran, though it is still being produced by DC Studios.
