2 May – Carla Gugino has been cast to play British cinematic legend, Vivien Leigh in the upcoming biopic, "The Florist".

As Variety reported, the movie, which will be directed by Nick Sandow, will be revolving around Leigh's struggle with bipolar disorder in the 1960s as she prepares for the Broadway production of "Ivanov".

Said Gugino, "I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to excavate a woman as complex, contradictory, and compelling as Vivien. From the moment I read the script, I knew 'The Florist' was a journey I had to pursue."

It is noted that the award-winning Leigh, most known for movies like "Gone with the Wind" and "A Streetcar named Desire" and considered one of the greatest female movie stars of classic Hollywood cinema, first showed symptoms of the mental disorder around the age of 25.

Despite undergoing several electroshock therapy sessions, Leigh continued to suffer from mental breakdown, including in 1953, while she was filming "Elephant Walk" in Sri Lanka.

The actress passed away in 1967 at the age of 53, though it was caused by tuberculosis.
