1 Nov - Cynthia Erivo is finally breaking her silence over the fan-made "Wicked" poster that she so hated that it made headlines on mainstream media.

The actress, who plays Elphaba in the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, tried to downplay the issue by telling Entertainment Tonight that she was being passionate about it.

"And I know the fans are passionate about it and I think for me it was just like a human moment of wanting to protect little Elphaba," she said, before adding, "I probably should have called my friends, but it's fine."

It was last month that Erivo took to IG Story to blast the said fan-edit of the poster, which had her eyes covered and her green lips reedited red to resemble the original Broadway musical poster.

"The original poster is an ILLUSTRATION. I am a real-life human being who chose to look right down the barrel of the camera to you, the viewer... because, without words we communicate with our eyes," Erivo posted. "Our poster is an homage not an imitation, to edit my face and hide my eyes is to erase me. And that is just deeply hurtful."

While some supported the actress, a lot of netizens criticised Erivo for misunderstanding fans' support for the movie, and slammed the actress for likening the edit to the previous fake AI of her and Ariana Grand fighting and the perverse comments made about her character.
