29 Jul - "Deadpool & Wolverine" has broken a record that was previously held by Deadpool himself by becoming the biggest launch for an R-rated film as it began screening in theatres on 25 July. The film, which sees the cooperation between the unlikely duo, opened to USD 205 million in the US alone, making it also the eighth biggest opening of all time among any films. It is noted that the previous record holder for R-rated movie was the first "Deadpool", released in 2016.
Meanwhile, it also amassed USD 233.3 million internationally from 55 markets, bringing a global total of USD 438.3 million and making it the biggest global opening since "Avatar: The Way of Water". The movie is the first R-rated movie released by Disney and may assist in Marvel Studios' recovery after a series of box office bombs.
Meanwhile, "Twisters" is coming in at second place with global tally of USD 221.9 million in its second week.
