4 Sep - He might be 85 this year, but Sir Ian McKellen has no qualms if he is to reprise his role as Gandalf in the upcoming new "Lord of the Rings" films.

The veteran star, who played the role in the previous Peter Jackson trilogy as well as "The Hobbit" trilogy, revealed to the Big Issue that he has been told that there are going to be more LOTR films in the future that will involve his iconic character.

"They hope that I'll be playing him. When? I don't know. What the script is? It's not written yet. So, they better be quick," said McKellen.

It was back in May that Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav revealed that the studio is in early development of a new "Lord of the Rings" film.

The first film, which has the working title of "Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum", will have Andy Serkis reprising his role as the character as well as direct the project. It will also be produced by Peter Jackson.

It is noted that McKellen earlier suffered from some injuries after falling off the stage while playing John Falstaff in a production of "Henry IV", Parts One and Two. He had since decided to take a year off to rest.
