"Inside Out 2" surpasses "The Lion King" in highest grossing movies list


"The Lion King" has been dethroned
4 Sep - "Inside Out 2" continues its journey of successes, as it has now surpassed the live-action remake of "The Lion King" to become the 9th highest grossing movie of all time.

The achievement was successfully made over the weekend, as the Pixar animated feature made an estimated USD 1.666 billion at the box office.

It is also set to surpass "Jurassic World" as well, which made USD 1.67 billion at the box office when it came out in 2015. If the film succeeded, it will come out at eighth place in the list.

Meanwhile, another Disney film, "Deadpool & Wolverine" has now made USD 1.262 billion at the box office, despite having an R-rating.

As for new additions in theatres, "Alien: Romulus" is now on its way to earning USD 300 million, while "Despicable Me 4" has surpassed the USD 900 million mark.
