23 May - Although the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean" film will be a reboot, Jerry Bruckheimer is still holding on to hope that Johnny Depp will one day return as the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow.

The producer shared as much with Entertainment Weekly recently, saying that if it was up to him, Depp would be in the new movie.

"I love him. He's a good friend. He's an amazing artist and he's a unique look," he said. "He created Captain Jack. That was not on the page, that was him doing a little Pepe Le Pew and Keith Richards. That was his interpretation of Jack Sparrow."

It is noted that Depp was last seen donning the Jack Sparrow hat in 2017 for "Dead Men Tell No Tales". He had since expressed his frustration towards Disney for the way the company treated him amid allegations of abuse by his ex-wife Amber Heard, and declared that he would never work with Disney again after winning his lawsuit against Heard last year.
