30 Sep - John Ashton, most known for playing John Taggart in the "Beverly Hills Cop" film series, has passed away. The news was confirmed by his manager Alan Somers, who told the media that the actor died on 26 September in Fort Collins, Colorado after a brief battle with cancer. Ashton played Detective Sergeant Taggart in the first two Eddie Murphy-starrers, "Beverly Hills Cop". He returned most recently in the 2024 film, "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F", this time with his character promoted to police chief.
Aside from his said most popular film, Ashton has also acted in films and TV shows that include "Borderline", "Dallas", and "An Eye for an Eye". He is survived by his sisters Sharon Ann Linda Jean, and brother Edward Richard. He was 76.
