Streaming revolution as MAX explodes into Southeast Asia with epic entertainment lineup

20 Nov - Warner Bros. Discovery has officially launched MAX, its streaming service, in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The platform offers an extensive entertainment lineup featuring iconic brands and diverse content across multiple genres.

Subscribers can now enjoy a rich mix of entertainment, including HBO Originals, DC Universe content, Harry Potter franchises, and Discovery Channel programming. The launch is marked by the premiere of the HBO Original "Dune: Prophecy" and "Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking", with upcoming releases like "Twisters", "Expend4bles", and "IF".

Movie enthusiasts will have access to blockbuster hits such as "Trap", "Barbie", "Meg 2: The Trench", and comprehensive collections of "Harry Potter", "The Lord of the Rings", and "The Matrix". Premium series like "Game of Thrones", "House of the Dragon", "Succession", and "The White Lotus" are also part of the offering.

The streaming service provides a consumer-friendly experience with personalised profiles, tailored recommendations, multilingual interfaces, and kid-friendly content with parental controls.

Two subscription plans are available:
  • Standard plan - allows subscribers to stream on two devices at once and download up to 30 titles for offline viewing, and

  • Ultimate plan - allows subscribers to stream on four devices simultaneously with 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos as available and enjoy up to 100 downloads for offline viewing (limits apply).
MAX is accessible across various platforms including smart TVs, streaming devices, mobile and tablet devices, with distribution partnerships in Malaysia such as Astro and Unifi TV.

JB Perrette, CEO of Global Streaming & Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, described this launch as a significant milestone in MAX's worldwide expansion, with plans to enter more markets in 2025 and 2026.
