12 Nov - Michelle Yeoh recently admitted that she didn't actually know anything about "Wicked" prior to being cast in the big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. The actress, who plays Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Crage Hall at Shiz University in the movie, revealed at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie that she was asked to read the script by director Jon M Chu without having any clue what he was talking about. "I had not seen Wicked the musical before. I knew Wizard of Oz, who doesn't, but not Wicked, because I hadn't been going to the theaters and not doing what I love which is watching musicals, for quite a while I hate to say," she said.
Michelle, who wowed everybody with her new blond do, said that she read as asked and realised then that it was a musical that requires her to sing. "And he said, 'Oh easy, you'll have fun, you're up for the challenge.' And then the next thing I knew I get this video call and it was him with Ariana and Cynthia saying, 'It's imperative you come and join us now.'" she added.
In the same interview, the actress confessed that she was terrified about singing in the film, but had fun learning to use her vocals with a coach. The first part of "Wicked" will hit theaters on 22 November.
