6 Dec - Paapa Essiedu, most known for the role of Kwame in "I May Destroy You", is in talks to play Professor Severus Snape in HBO's "Harry Potter" TV series.

As reported on THR, sources are saying that HBO has offered the part to the British actor, though it is unclear if negotiations have started.

The antihero character was originally played by the late Alan Rickman in all eight of the "Harry Potter" films that began with the 2001 movie, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".

The character, who is a Potions teacher at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is described as smart but cold, calculating and bitter.

The TV series project, which was announced earlier this year, has yet to cast anybody officially.

Essiedu, who started his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company, has starred in films like "Murder on the Orient Express" and "The Outrun", as well as series like "Anne Boleyn" and "Gangs of London".
