22 Nov - Voice actress Pamela Hayden, known for lending her voice to various "The Simpsons" characters but most popularly Milhouse Van Houten, recently announced that she is retiring from the industry.

In a statement released by Hayden, she expressed, ""The time has come for me to hang up my microphone, but how do I say goodbye to The Simpsons? Not easily."

"It's been an honour and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show ... I'll always have a special place in my heart for that blue-haired 10-year-old boy with glasses," she said, referring to the said Bart Simpson friend.

Simpsons creator Matt Groening expressed, "Pamela gave us tons of laughs with Milhouse, the hapless kid with the biggest nose in Springfield. She made Milhouse hilarious and real, and we will miss her."

Milhouse's character first appeared in 1989 back when the show was still a series of shorts on "The Tracey Ullman Show". Aside from Milhouse, Hayden also voiced Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Malibu Stacy and various recurring characters.

She has also voiced characters in other animated series like "Hey Arnold!", "Aaaah!!! Real Monsters", and "Lloyd in Space".

The long-running animated series will begin casting for Hayden's characters in the near future.
