19 Apr – It was reported that Korean award-winning filmmaker Park Chan-wook will be developing his most famous film "Oldboy" into an English-language series.

The filmmaker, who directed and co-wrote the original film loosely adapted from a Japanese manga of the same name by Garon Tsuchiya, will be producing the project alongside producing partner Syd Lim.

"Lionsgate Television shares my creative vision for bringing Oldboy into the world of television," said Park. "I look forward to working with a studio whose brand stands for bold, original and risk-taking storytelling."

"Oldboy" is the second movie in Park's Vengeance trilogy, which started with 2002's "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance", and followed by 2005's "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance".

In it, Choi Min-sik plays the role of Oh Dae-su, a man who seeks revenge against his captor after being released from 15 years of imprisonment.

It is noted that a Hollywood version starring Josh Brolin was released in 2013, though it did not receive similar positive response.
