21 Aug - Robert Downey Jr. recently revealed that talks about him returning to Marvel has actually started a year ago through a conversation he had with Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige.

The actor, who is set to play Doctor Doom in the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday", revealed in an episode of The Hollywood Reporter's "Awards Chatter" podcast that he has been keeping in touch with Feige after the end of "Avengers: Endgame" but that the Marvel Studios boss suddenly suggested that he made his return to the MCU.

RDJ revealed, "[Feige] said, 'It just keeps occurring to me, if you were to come back...' and [my wife] Susan was like, 'Wait, wait. Come back as what?'"

The actor stated that he and Feige went on to talk about things that needed to be resolved if he were to come back, seeing that his character Tony Stark/Iron Man has already died in the last "Avengers" movie.

"How can we not go backwards? How can we not disappoint expectations? How can we continue to beat expectations? And he brought up Victor Von Doom. I looked into this character. Later on, he goes, 'Let's get Victor Von Doom right," said Downey.

He then went on to meet with Disney CEO Bob Iger, where Iger told him that he liked the idea of him returning as Doctor Doom.

"You want to talk about two guys that are not easy to have their minds blown, let alone at the same time," said RDJ. "What is going on there, right now, is so beyond my expectations of what was possible."
