Ryan Coogler to helm a Prince jukebox musical

Don't cry me purple rain
25 Mar - Ryan Coogler has finally unveiled his new project this year, which is a jukebox musical featuring the songs by Prince.

The project will be under Universal Pictures, and reportedly has been in development since 2018.

Coogler is also co-producing the project alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian and Universal Music Publishing Group chair Jody Gerson.

The filmmaker is most known for directing "Black Panther" and its sequel, the 2022 "Wakanda Forever".

Prince was known for a variety of hit songs including "When Doves Cry", "Let's Go Crazy", "Kiss" and "Batdance". He passed away in 2016 at the age of 57.
