Ryan Reynolds wants a Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum

8 Aug - Ryan Reynolds recently expressed happiness in seeing Channing Tatum finally playing the role that he has always wanted to play, that is X-Men's Gambit.

The actor, who cast Tatum in the role in "Deadpool & Wolverine", recently shared a heartwarming post on Instagram, saying that both he and Tatum had the same story, as they both tried to put the most comic accurate version of their favourite characters on screen.

"Remy LeBeau is grafted to his soul and needs to come out and deal. Some characters can only exist with a one in a billion pairing and this is it. Gambit found his author in Chan. He's one of the coolest, smartest characters in Comics and still largely unexplored. I want more - and from what I saw in theaters, you do too," he posted.

Reynolds said it is easy to root for Gambit and for Tatum as the character, adding, "I couldn't be more thrilled to see @channingtatum pull Gambit from the dead and bring him to life at the perfect time and perfect way."

It is noted that Tatum had always wanted to play the character, after he was unable to do it in the late 2000s for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" due to conflicting schedule. He was in the run to play the character for a standalone movie, but the project was axed a few years later.

He once stated in an interview, "Gambit's my favourite. I'm from New Orleans, around that area. My dad's from New Orleans, and I like to do a Cajun accent. I could do it for real. No knock on Taylor Kitsch, though, 'cause I actually like his Gambit, but I've always lived around Cajun people... Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking [guy]. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes."
