15 Jul - "Charmed" star Shannen Doherty has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed in a statement released by her publicist, Leslie Sloane, saying, "On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease."


"The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace."

Doherty, who has been battling breast cancer since she was diagnosed in 2015, rose to fame playing the role of Brenda Walsh in "Beverly Hills, 90210". She then went on to find new fame playing the role of Prue Halliwell, the eldest of the three witch sisters in "Charmed".

The actress, whose cancer was in remission in 2017, revealed in 2019 that the cancer had returned and spread. However, she continued working and even hosted the popular podcast "Let's Be Clear With Shannen Doherty".

She was 53.
