4 Jul - Shah Rukh Khan has been selected to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Locarno Film Festival.

The Bollywood superstar, known to his fans as King Khan, will be honoured with the Pardo alla Carriera on 10 August at the Locarno's Piazza Grande.

Said Giona A. Nazzaro, the Artistic Director of the festival, "To welcome a living legend like Shah Rukh Khan in Locarno is a dream come true. The wealth and breadth of his contribution to Hindi-language cinema is unprecedented. Khan is a king who has never lost touch with the audience that crowned him."

With over a thirty-year career, SRK has featured in high-profile collaborations with some of India's most prominent directors and stars and achieved major popular success and international recognition, as when the French government awarded Khan with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007 and the Legion d'honneur in 2014.

After a four-year hiatus, the actor returned to the big screen last year with three new movies, "Pathaan", "Jawan" and "Dunki".

As part of the tribute, the festival will also be screening the actor's hit 2002 movie, "Devdas", directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
