Studio Ghibli partners mm2 to rerun beloved animated films in Southeast Asia

Studio Ghibli's films are renowned for artistry and storytelling

3 Oct - mm2 Entertainment Pte Ltd, a leading media entertainment and content company in Asia, announced today a strategic distribution partnership with Studio Ghibli, the acclaimed Japanese animation studio, to bring Studio Ghibli's beloved library of titles to Southeast Asian audiences for the next five years.

The partnership will see mm2 distribute 21 of Studio Ghibli's iconic films, including fan favourites like "Spirited Away", "Howl's Moving Castle", and "My Neighbour Totoro", across 7 territories: Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Cambodia.

With its extensive experience in film production and distribution in Southeast Asia, mm2 is well-positioned to introduce these timeless classics to new and returning fans. The company's parent company, mm2 Asia, operates cinema chains in Singapore and Malaysia, providing a direct channel to reach moviegoers in these territories. The first titles in the Studio Ghibli library are set for release later this year.

Studio Ghibli's recent recognition at the 77th Cannes Film Festival with the Honorary Palme d'Or further solidifies its status as a global cultural icon. "The World of Studio Ghibli" exhibition launching at ArtScience Museum in Singapore will also offer fans a unique opportunity to experience the studio's timeless stories and join iconic characters on an unforgettable adventure through the fantastical realms of its beloved films.
