5 Apr - It looks like the world of "The Matrix" is not going to end anytime soon, as Warner Bros. has now found a new person to bring it back.

Writer-director Drew Goddard was revealed to have been hired to write and direct a new "Matrix" film for the studio, as Warner Bros. Motion Pictures president of production Jesse Ehrman announced.

"Drew came to Warner Bros. with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the Matrix world, by both honoring what Lana and Lilly began over 25 years ago and offering a unique perspective based on his own love of the series and characters," he said.

"The entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery is thrilled for Drew to be making his new Matrix film, adding his vision to the cinematic canon the Wachowskis spent a quarter of a century building here at the studio."

This will be the first Matrix movie not to be helmed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, though Lana will executive produce the new instalment.

Goddard is known for films like "The Cabin in the Woods", "World War Z", "The Martian", and "Bad Times at the El Royale". He has also written episodes of shows like "Lost", "Alias" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"

"The Matrix Resurrections" was released in 2021
