"Wicked" soundtrack makes magic in multiple music charts


"Wicked" soundtrack makes impressive billboard debut
4 Dec - It is another victory for the big screen adaptation of the Broadway musical, "Wicked", as it was revealed that the official soundtrack has been topping music charts since the film's release.

Deadline reported that the soundtrack for the movie has debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 charts, making it the highest debut for a film adaptation of a Broadway musical.


The only artiste that the movie wasn't able to surpass was Kendrick Lamar, whose surprise album "GNX" flew all the way to the number one spot.

Meanwhile, "Wicked" has also reached the top spot on Billboard's Top Album Sales, Soundtracks and Vinyl Albums charts.

The last time that a film adaptation of a stage musical made it to the top 5 on music charts was in 2003, when "Chicago" made it to the fourth spot, and subsequently to number 2.

"Wicked" stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as two best friends Elphaba and Glinda. It also features talents like Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum.
