1 Jul - It looks like race car trumps killer doll, as "F1: The Movie" bested "M3GAN 2.0" at the box office.

The film, which stars Brad Pitt in the lead, made USD 55.6 million in the US after three days of opening, making it the first ever Apple Original Films to rise to the top of the box office chart.

The movie also made USD 88.4 million overseas, bringing a total cume of USD 144 million. This also made it the biggest opening number for a Brad Pitt movie, following "World War Z" (USD 112 million).

"M3GAN 2.0" didn't do as well as the first film
On the other hand, the Blumhouse and Atomic Monster's horror movie, "M3GAN 2.0" did not do as well, with only USD 10.2 million in the US and USD 17.2 million internationally, bringing a total of only USD 27.4 million.

However, it is noted that the film had a budget of USD 25 million (sans marketing) to make, which meant that it still has a big chance to make a profit.

Meanwhile, "How to Train Your Dragon" continues to do well at the box office, amassing USD 454.4 million globally in its third week.
