26 Jun - Canadian actress Callina Liang was revealed to have been cast in Legendary's live-action adaptation of Capcom's "Street Fighter".

The actress, most known for her performance in Steven Soderbergh's supernatural thriller, "Presence", will play the role of the Chinese martial artist and Interpol officer Chun-Li. Liang will be joining a cast that includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck.

The film will be helmed by Kitao Sakurai of "Bad Trip" fame.

Capcom launched "Street Fighter" in 1987 as a one-on-one fighting game between a diverse cast of martial artists, with M. Bison being the central antagonist.

Meanwhile, the character of Chun-Li first appeared in "Street Fighter II: The World Warrior" in 1991, becoming the first female playable character in a fighting game.

Among actresses who have played the character include Ming-Na Wen in 1994 and Kristin Kreuk in the 2009's "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li".
