3 Apr - Hollywood celebrities are mourning the loss of Val Kilmer, after news of the actor's passing hit the news outlets on 2 April.

Filmmaker Michael Mann, who worked with Kilmer on "Heat", released a statement that read, "While working with Val on Heat I always marveled at the range, the brilliant variability within the powerful current of Val's possessing and expressing character. After so many years of Val battling disease and maintaining his spirit, this is tremendously sad news."

His "Bad Lieutenant" co-star Nicolas Cage wrote, "I always liked Val and am sad to hear of his passing. I thought he was a genius actor. I enjoyed working with him on Bad Lieutenant and I admired his commitment and sense of humour. He should have won the Oscar for The Doors."

Meanwhile, Jim Carrey, who worked with Kilmer on "Batman Forever", said, "I'm remembering Val Kilmer today with great admiration for him as a man and as a generational talent who left us an enviable legacy of indelible acting performances. His greatest artistic achievements were rivaled only by the grace and courage with which he endured his life's most challenging moments. Wishing his family so much love."

As for Cher, who dated Kilmer in the past, the singer posted on X, "VALUS Will miss u, U Were Funny, crazy, pain in the ass, GREAT FRIEND, kids [love] U, BRILLIANT as Mark Twain, BRAVE here during ur sickness."

On the other hand, the official X account for "Top Gun" posted, "Remembering Val Kilmer, whose indelible cinematic mark spanned genres and generations. RIP Iceman."

Kilmer's passing was announced by daughter and actress Mercedes Kilmer, who said that the actor died of pneumonia. It is noted that Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015.

He was 65.
