3 Feb - Despite news outlets reporting that he is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans recently denied that he will be coming back as Steve Rogers/Captain America.

The actor, who was asked about the reports in an interview with Esquire, stated that there is no truth to what was written and that such a thing (reports of his comeback) has happened to him multiple times.

"I mean, it happens every couple years - ever since Endgame. I've just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no - happily retired!" he said.

Despite the denial, many believe that it was just a ruse on Evans' part.

It was last month that it was confirmed that Evans has been in talks about returning to the MCU, particularly for "Avengers: Doomsday", which sees the return of Robert Downey Jr., who will be playing Doctor Doom this time around.

"Avengers: Doomsday" is set to be directed by the Russo Brothers, and is scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026.
