28 Jul - After being shelved and facing threats of not seeing the light of day, Will Forte is relieved that "Coyote vs Acme" finally has a release date now.

The actor, who spoke to the audience at the San Diego Comic-Con, said that he was speechless upon finding out that Ketchup Entertainment is releasing the film after it was dropped by Warner Bros.

"It blows my mind. You think back to the journey this movie has taken. I had kind of given up hope at a certain point, so this is amazing," he said.

The film, which also screened a footage at the convention, will now hit theatres on 28 August 2026. The movie was scraped by WB in late 2023

"The real hero of this movie is all of you guys sitting in those seats," said Forte. "Like Wile E. Coyote, you guys were an underdog who fought against a major corporation, and because you never gave up, this movie is now going to come out in wide global release."

It was late 2023 when it was reported that Warner Bros planned to scrap the movie, despite already being completed, as part of a USD 115 million write-down. Ketchup Entertainment acquired the film last year following social media uproar.

The film, which is directed by Dave Green from a story by Samy Burch, with Burch, James Gunn and Jeremy Slater, centres on attorney Kevin Avery (Forte) representing Wile E. Coyote in a lawsuit against the Acme Corporation over his failed attempts to catch the Road Runner.
