12 Jun - Deepika Padukone recently celebrated her father's birthday by announcing more badminton schools!

On 10 June, the Bollywood actress posted a photo of her with her father, who turned 70 recently, and wrote, "As someone who grew up playing badminton, I've experienced firsthand how much this sport can shape one's life - physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through Padukone School of Badminton (PSB), we hope to bring the joy and discipline of Badminton to people from all walks of life, and build a generation that is healthier, more focused, and inspired by sport."

To her dad, she expressed, "Those who know you well, know your passion for this sport. That even at 70, all you do is eat, sleep and breathe Badminton. And we are committed to making your passion a reality: Badminton for All! Happy 70th Birthday Pappa!"

In a statement by the Padukone School of Badminton that she attached with the post, it was revealed that they have established over 75 grassroots coaching centres across 18 Indian cities within its first year.

It also aims to reach 100 centres by the end of 2025 and 250 within the next three years.

Deepika's father Prakash Padukone is a former badminton player, who became the first Indian player to win the All England Open Badminton Championships in 1980.
