19 May - "Final Destination Bloodlines" proves that there is still a market for the long dormant franchise, as it opened in the US with USD 51 million, which is more than it was projected.

The movie, which is the first Final Destination film since the last instalment in 2011, "Final Destination 5", made another USD 51 million overseas for a global cume of USD 102 million. It is noted that the film was originally projected to make around USD 47 to 48 million opening number.

It also meant that the movie now has the best opening among all the "Final Destination" films.

The film, directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as a young woman who finds out that her grandmother was able to cheat death and save numerous lives, albeit with frightening consequences.

On the other hand, Marvel's "Thunderbolts", which was the top film last week, has now surpassed the USD 300 million mark globally, having made USD 325.7 million in its second week.
