14 Aug - If you think that there is a lack of creativity in Hollywood movies nowadays, well, Jackie Chan is also thinking the same thing.

The action icon, who held a Q&A in Locarno where he was awarded the Pardo alla Carriera award recently, shared his belief that movies of old are better than the films that are made today.

"Right now, a lot of big studios, they're not filmmakers, they're business guys. They invest 40 million and think, 'How can I get it back?' And you can't go over," he said.

Jackie added that that's the reason why it has been very difficult to make a good movie with new ideas.

It is noted that critics have been raising the issues with Hollywood's trajectory in recent years, after studios kept releasing more and more adaptations, remakes, sequels and reboots (from "Happy Gilmore" to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), and banking in on the nostalgia factors rather than telling original stories.

In the same session, the actor said that his career goal in Hollywood has always been to "be a cross-cultural bridge between the US and China."
