Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom want to protect daughter amid split

3 Jul - After confirming their split, it was revealed that part of the reasons for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom making that decision was for the sake of their daughter, Daisy.

According to an insider, the 40-year-old pop singer and her 48-year-old former fiance and actor want to protect and prioritise their four-year-old as they end their six-year engagement, stating that it was better for their little one if they are not together.

"At a certain point, they had to admit it's better for Daisy to see their parents separately, then she won't grow up feeling the tension and animosity," said the insider. "They are there for Daisy and have been. Daisy is their angel, and they want to protect her from anything adverse."

"They want to keep a friendly relationship so each can be around her separately or together," the source added.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom had been together for nine years

Orlando Bloom and Katy, who have been together for nine years and engaged for six of those years, welcomed Daisy in August 2020. The actor also has a son, Flynn Bloom from his previous marriage with supermodel Miranda Kerr.

As for how Katy is doing following the breakup, the source said that the singer is focusing on her tour.

"She never saw herself being a single mum. She's felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It's been a lot for her. She's still doing great though."

Prior to Orlando Bloom, Katy was married to British comedian, Russell Brand.
